Terms of Use
Last updated: October 11, 2026
These terms govern your use of the Eskal app. By using it, you accept them. The subscription is also governed by the Terms of Sale.

The service
Eskal blocks the apps and categories you choose between your bedtime and your wake-up time. In the morning, they stay blocked until you scan the barcode of your saved object, for example a product in your bathroom. The app also offers a bedtime reminder, your night history, an illustrated voyage, and a character and boat to customize.
Eskal runs on iPhone with iOS 17 or later, and needs Screen Time permission.
Access and subscription
Blocking requires an active subscription, with a free trial for eligible new subscribers. Without an active subscription, Eskal blocks nothing: schedules are cancelled and your apps stay free. Offers, prices and cancellation are detailed in the Terms of Sale.
Age
Eskal is not intended for children under 13. If you are a minor, use it with the agreement of a parent or guardian.
How blocking works
Blocking relies on Screen Time, an Apple service. It depends on iOS: an update, a setting, an outage or system behavior may prevent or delay it. We cannot guarantee that it applies without interruption.
You always stay in control: you can remove Screen Time permission or delete the app at any time. The effort needed to unlock is intentional, not absolute.
Only the apps and categories you choose are blocked. Do not block an app you might need at night or in the morning (calls, messages, health, transport, work). Emergency calls remain available through iOS emergency features.
Three emergency unlocks per month remove blocking until the next bedtime, with no physical action. The counter resets on the 1st of each month.
Keep your unlock object within reach. If it is lost or used up, use an emergency unlock, then register another object during the day: schedule, apps and object cannot be changed during the blocking window.
Health and sleep
Eskal helps you put your phone down at night. It is not a medical device: it does not diagnose or treat any sleep disorder or addiction. If you are struggling, talk to a health professional.
Eskal does not wake you up: keep your usual alarm.
Your data and content
Eskal has no account and its data stays on your iPhone. Deleting the app, resetting the device or switching iPhones without a backup may erase your settings, your object and your night history: we cannot recover them. Your subscription can be restored with your Apple account.
You are responsible for the profile name you enter. How your data is handled is described in the Privacy Policy.
License
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive and non-transferable right to use Eskal on Apple devices you own or control, for non-commercial use, under the App Store usage rules.
Apple’s standard license agreement for App Store apps also applies. Apple is not responsible for Eskal, its content or its support.
Prohibited uses
- bypassing the subscription or purchase mechanisms;
- copying, decompiling or modifying the app, except where the law allows it;
- disrupting the operation or security of Eskal;
- using Eskal in breach of the law or the rights of others.
Intellectual property and credits
The Eskal name, the app, its texts, its illustrations, the voyage scene, the character and the boat are protected and remain our property or that of our licensors.

Availability and changes
We keep improving Eskal: features may be added, changed or removed. We do not guarantee that the app will always be available, error-free, or compatible with every device and iOS version.
Liability
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect damage related to the use of Eskal, including being late, a missed message, or an app that stayed blocked or unblocked.
Nothing in these terms limits the rights the law grants you as a consumer, or our liability for gross negligence or personal injury.
Ending use
You can stop using Eskal at any time by deleting the app. Deleting the app does not cancel your subscription: cancellation is done with Apple. We may suspend access in case of use that breaches these terms.
Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by French law, without depriving you of the protection of the mandatory rules of your country of residence. If you disagree with something, please write to hello@geteskal.com first so we can find an amicable solution. Failing that, the dispute will be brought before the competent courts.
Changes
These terms may change. The date at the top shows the latest version. By continuing to use Eskal after an update, you accept the new version.
